Final |
It is essential that each student read the material before it is discussed in class. To that end a set of questions will be distributed prior to each assigned reading passage. Answering these questions will cause the student to notice and think about the key parts of the reading. Students will prepare two copies of their responses to these questions (photocopy is fine). A copy to be turned in at the beginning of the class period and a second copy to be used during the lecture/class discussion on which the student should take notes and correct any mistaken ideas. This second copy will be valuable in preparation for the two tests during the quarter. The turned-in copy will be graded as either "Acceptable" or "Not Acceptable". Acceptable papers will earn 5 points, unacceptable papers none. It is unacceptable for papers to be submitted late unless prior arrangements have been made (answers can be faxed to me at 706-560-2759 or emailed to me.)
A course schedule, all the question sets, as well as cumulative review question sets are available at the school web site.
The course grade will be determined from three sources, weighted evenly: the in-class written tests and the turned-in answers to the questions and class participation. I reserve the right to modify the grade based upon class participation (or lack thereof evidenced by sleeping, etc.). This syllabus/schedule may be modified by me at any time.
